We’ve all been there… Mother’s Day is right around the corner and you’re stumped for gift ideas. She’s got all the candles and bath bombs that she could ever need. You could take her out to eat, but you’ve already been there and done that. You want to do something truly special this year both of you will remember . After all, she’s done so, so much for you over all these years!

Give your mom the gift of a Rhode Island Red Food Tour this year. Not to toot our own horn, but it’s seriously the perfect gift. Each tour is a unique experience and as an added bonus, it’s truly a sustainable gift that won’t get thrown away. You get to spend the afternoon with your mom, you’ll learn and taste something new. You’ll bond over the local history and yummy food. It’s a win-win for the both of you! Treat yourself and your mom to a mini afternoon vacation on a Rhode Island Red Food Tour this Mother’s Day.

With tours in Providence and Newport, you’ll be treated to an entertaining and memorable day of new food and quality mom time. She’ll remember it forever and so will you. She may not remember the Lush bath bomb she got in 2009 for Mother’s Day, but she will remember your gift of a Rhode Island Red Food Tour in 2017.

Why not celebrate Mom all year long? Some ideas for quality Mom-time this spring and summer.

Take mom antiquing!
Stop by the Providence Flea, Acushnet River Antiques or  Brimfield Antique Flea Market. The Providence Flea returns to us on Sunday, June 4. The Flea is every Sunday until September 10. It features dozens of local artisans and revolving food trucks. We recommend the lavender lemonade from Presto Strang O Coffee TruckAcushnet River Antiques in New Bedford, MA,  has been a treasure trove of dealers for years attracting bargain hunters of every vintage, stirring up memories of old looking for that unique one of a kind bargain they will treasure forever (or at least until the next great find).  The Brimfield Antique Flea Market is for both the serious and not so antique shoppers. Get lost amongst the fun, quirky and of course the more serious antiques and spend a day digging through treasures with mom. The 2017 dates for Massachusetts’ oldest flea market are May 9-14, July 13-15, and September 7-9.

Admire the Providence art scene.
Gallery Night Providence is a free night of art and fun every third Thursday, March through November. 21 of Providence’s “art spots” open their doors to visitors. This month’s Gallery Night Providence is Thursday, May 18, 5-9 pm. Guided bus tours leave about every 20 minutes starting at 5:30 pm. The last bus leaves at 7 pm. Each bus visits 4-5 galleries with the tour lasting for about 2 hours. The RISD Museum is a Providence staple. If mom appreciates art, she’ll love this museum! There are revolving exhibits and a special exhibit featuring the work of current RISD students.

Chow down at a food festival.
As soon as the warm weather hits, Rhode Island fills up with food festivals. The Newport Oyster Festival is coming up May 19 – 21. For $25, enjoy locally harvested oysters, iconic champagnes, and waterfront bars. The Great Chowder Cook-Off is June 10 at Fort Adams State Park in Bristol. Over 20 local, national and international competitors join this annual cook-off. For $20 (before the event), you can enjoy endless chowder samples from some of the best chowder connoisseurs. Food Truck Fridays are every Friday, May-September at Roger Williams Carousel Village. Food Truck events are free to attend and some of Rhode Island’s best food trucks are in attendance. Chow down with mom!

Mom deserves the best this Mother’s Day, so treat her to the best. Book a Downcity Providence or Newport Neighborhood Food Tour today. It’ll be a one-of-a-kind experience neither of you will forget!

Flowers will die, candles will be burned away, and bath bombs will float away. But she’ll remember the day you took her for a Rhode Island Red Food Tour. The gift of a RIRFT is thoughtful and unique. You’ll definitely win her Favorite Child of the Year Award. Book your tour today!
