Father’s Day is the perfect time to create unforgettable memories with Dad. There’s a plethora of activities and exciting things to do in Rhode Island that will make this special day truly memorable. From outdoor adventures to cultural events, here are some of the best things to do in Rhode Island for Father’s Day.

ENJOY A FOOD TOUR IN NEWPORT OR PROVIDENCE

Take dad on our Downcity Providence Food Tour or Newport Neighborhood Food Tour!! Our food tours are delicious, fun, engaging, and rife with interesting history and stunning art and architecture. Make it a multi-generational family affair, or just you and dad making memories throughout the afternoon. Whether enjoying craft brew and made-to-order pretzels at The Malted Barley, or spicy margaritas and short ribs at Perro Salado in Newport, the adventure awaits!

Experience the 44th U.S. Senior Open at Newport Country Club

Man takes a swing at the 44th U.S. Senior Open in Newport, Rhode Island.

If dad’s a golf enthusiast, buy tickets for you and the old man to experience the 44th U.S. Senior Open from June 27-30, 2024, at Newport Country Club. This prestigious event will feature 156 of the world’s best professional and amateur senior golfers (over the age of 50). Watching these talented athletes compete in such a historic setting is an experience not to be missed. It will be one of the most memorable Father’s Days ever!

Hike at Lincoln Woods

Activities in Rhode Island that you can have one on one take all shapes and size, this one is for outdoorsy dads. Lincoln Woods State Park is 627-acres of bucolic bliss located just outside of Providence. They will love hiking around Olney Pond, with its  scenic setting and tree-lined shores. And you can choose from three trails. The Lincoln Woods trail is a s 3.1-mile loop trail around the perimeter of the park through dense forest but considered easy. The Les Pawson Loop is 2.9 miles, easy, and you can even bring your dog.For more experienced hikes, the Upper Pond MTB trail is your best bet. This 6.9-mile loop is considered a moderately challenging route with plenty of offshoots, but you’ll likely encounter many mountain bikers along the way.

Bike and Brew

If dad likes to log the miles on two wheels, the East Bay Bike Path is the crown jewel of all paved trails in Rhode Island. It extends14 breathtaking miles from Providence to Bristol, known as America’s most patriotic town. Riding this path is one of everyone’s favorite things to do in Rhode Island.

The bike path is also flanked by two amazing local breweries. In Providence, there’s Narragansett Brewery, located near India Point Park in the Fox Point neighborhood. Opened last fall, there’s plenty of room to park your bikes at this 18,000-square-foot brewery. Perch yourself on the al fresco patio to enjoy views over India Point and distant waterfront views of the Providence River while indulging in one of the many taproom-only releases before you hit the bike path.  Then halfway to the end of the path veer off at the Warren Bridge over to The Guild Brewing Co. for a quick brew and lunch on the Warren Waterfront before the last leg of the path in Bristol.

In Bristol, there’s your choice of three breweries.

Six Pack Brewing, a dog-friendly nano-brewery focused on brewing high-quality, creative craft beers

Vigilant Brewing near Bristol Golf Park offering craft brew in the taproom and spacious outdoor patio.

Pivotal Brewing self-describes as an “eclectic urban oasis.” The beloved brewery is located in a repurposed mill on Wood Street in Unity Park. The striking, funky space is exceptionally chill and more importantly, makes great beer. If you and dad get hungry, you can order fantastic pizza from neighboring Brick Pizza Co

Downtown Providence Kayak Tour

Adventure with dad and experience downtown Providence from a whole new angle. Paddle through picturesque bridges, cobblestone walkways, and green riverbanks. Paddle through and explore the Woonasquatucket Rivers, Riverwalk and Waterplace Park. Rent a kayak and explore on your own and look into one of their guided tours.

Newport Polo Series

Start a new Rhode Island Father’s Day tradition and take dad to a polo match! Polo is a longstanding Newport tradition that dates back to the Gilded Age. There’s a new match every Saturday. Lucky for you, there’s a match on Saturday, June 15 (the day before Father’s Day!), USA vs. Dominican Republic. The  match starts at 5pm, but people tailgate for hours before with fantastic picnics at the Newport International Polo Series in Portsmouth.

Cider Tasting at Warren Cider Works Company

Craving something a little sweeter than beer? Take dad to a cider tasting at the Warren Cider Works Company! Their ciders lineup is always seasonal, so you can return again and again for a unique experience. You can even bring dad’s favorite cheese, crackers, and other light snacks to round out your cider tasting. Read more about their ciders and process here.

Celebrate with a Visit to The Guild Brewing Company in Pawtucket

With a large beer hall, a spacious outdoor beer garden, and there are plenty of ways to enjoy a day together. It’s the perfect spot to make Father’s Day special and create lasting memories with Dad. Cheers to making this Father’s Day one to remember!
