March 30, 2019
April is such a sweet month in Rhode Island. It is the true start of spring. Thousands of daffodils bloom in Newport, the food trucks come out of their winter hibernation, and festivals of all sorts start springing up. Another marker of spring is the return of our food tours. We can’t wait to start our new season in Providence and Newport on April 19!

The Newport Daffodil Days Festival features dozens of fun, free and family-friendly events. You can find the full schedule of events here. Some of our favorites are the Daffy Doggie Paw-rade, Go Daffy at Green Animals Topiary Garden, and the Driving Miss Daffodil Classic Car Parade.

Egg Smash Paint Splatter
Friday, April 19 from 11 am – 4 pm
We’re a little sad that Egg Smash Paint Splatter is a kids-only event. Throwing an egg stuffed with paint, confetti, and glitter onto canvas sounds like a great way to spend an afternoon! Each painter receives three eggs to toss, throw, or smash. This is a messy event, so Artescape strongly recommends that kiddos wear their play clothes.
The price per painter is $7 and includes three paint-filled eggs, an 8×10 canvas, and an egg filled with Easter surprises.
Artescape is located at 580 Central Avenue in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
Food Truck Friday

If you need to prepare for a foodie feast, you can check out the evening’s food truck lineup ahead of time here.
Roger Williams Park Zoo & Carousel Village is located at 1000 Elmwood Avenue in Providence, Rhode Island.
WaterFire Art & Craft Festival
WaterFire Arts Center
Saturday, April 20 from 12 pm – 6 pm
Three of our favorite things combined, the WaterFire Art & Craft Festival features handmade works by local artists (all from the Arts Festival at WaterFire), live music, and local food. This festival is a fun way to get a little taste of WaterFire before the season officially begins in late May.
WaterFire Art & Craft Festival is a free and family-friendly event.
WaterFire Arts Center is located at 475 Valley Street in Providence, Rhode Island.
