Bands, Board Games, Burgers and Beer Nights Hot Club Thursday, January 4, 11, and 18 starting at 5 pm
For three Thursdays in January, Hot Club in Providence will be the hot spot. Order any beer and burger for just $10 starting at noon till midnight (extra toppings are free!) The bands roll in at 6:30 pm, kicking off your weekend early. The board games are brought out a little earlier at 5 pm. Games include Lifesize Jenga, Connect 4, Checkers, Chess, Risk, Bananagrams, Settlers of Catan, Cribbage, Boggle, Uno, and many more! Bring the whole gang along and get there earlier to get your pick of board games!

Knife Skills Class Stock Culinary Goods
Thursday, January 11 at 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Keep those fingers safe! Chef Lara is back for this very popular, hands-on knife skills class. Learn how to safely and efficiently chop, dice, and mince your favorite foods. Chef Lara will teach you all about safety, how to hold a knife and different kinds of cuts. She’ll even share some tips and tricks along the way. This Knife Skills Class teaches the basics, so beginners are more than welcome! Bring along one of your knives, preferably a 6 or 8-inch Chef Knife. Bonus: it’ll be honed for free!

Farmer’s Market Dinner: Winter
Lippitt House Museum
Friday, January 12 at 6 pm – 9 pm (Snow date is Saturday, January 13)
Easy Entertaining and Lippitt House Museum have teamed up for this one-of-a-kind dinner sure to cure your wintertime blues. The Winter Farmer’s Market Dinner is a multi-course dining experience that focuses on the variety of seasonally available produce in Rhode Island. The team heads to the Pawtucket Wintertime Farmers Market the Saturday before the event to curate the menu. From there, they pair each course with boutique wines. With the beautiful and historic Lippitt House Museum as the backdrop, this event has it all – gorgeous atmosphere, great food, and even better company.
Reservations are required and tickets are $99 per guest (including tax, wine pairings, and 18% gratuity.)

Food Business Bootcamp

The foodie experts at Hope & Main will walk you through the process. Food Business Bootcamp covers market research, business plans, sales & marketing, funding options, legal consideration & operations, and management. Hope & Main‘s comprehensive overview will start you off on the right foot. You will learn what it takes to start and sustain a food business. Bootcamp includes a panel discussion with entrepreneurs currently working in the food business. Opportunities for self-assessment, networking, and Q&A will be available.

Introduction to Silkscreen: One-Day Intensive AS220 Saturday, January 13 at 10 am – 6 pm
Start your new year off with a new hobby! Screen printing is a versatile technique that can be used to transfer graphic images to paper, wood, and fabric. It’s ideal for making t-shirts, posters, coasters, greeting cards, stationary, and more. Bring an idea for a project and the team at AS220 will help you get started. This one-day course is a comprehensive introduction to screen printing. Participants will design, print and exchange a one or two-color print with a maximum dimension of 8″ x 10.” Keep that size in mind when you’re mulling over a design!
The morning will be dedicated to designing and creating stencils by hand or using the laser copier. In the afternoon, participants will learn the proper techniques, layer registration, and troubleshooting. At the end of the workshop, participants will exchange prints. You’ll end with a whole new collection of designs!
Tickets are $100 per person and registration is required.

Providence Hoot 2018: January Open Mic!
Rhode Island Museum of Science and Art
Wednesday, January 17 at 7 pm – 10 pm
The January Open Mic is a free night of local music, stand-up, spoken word and a variety of entertainment! All are welcome, even those who would rather listen and watch. For those interested in sharing, each performer is allowed 1 song or 5 minutes. Sign-ups start at 7 pm and the first performance begins at 7:30 pm. If you need some liquid courage before your performance, the beer is plentiful and free. Although the event and beer is free, donations are encouraged to support the Rhode Island Museum of Science and Art.

Edgewood Cheese Shop and Eatery
Friday, January 19 at 6:30 pm – 8 pm
Learn more about cheese while eating it too! Bring along some friends to learn about how cheese is made and sample various styles. Cheese 101 is BYOB, so bring a bottle or two along with you! After the tasting, enjoy a 10% discount on any purchase. If you find a new favorite, you’ll be able to bring it home at a discount price. Double yay!

Russell Morin Test Kitchen at Mount Hope Farm Mount Hope Farm

If you haven’t experienced a Russell Morin Test Kitchen, now is your chance! January’s test kitchen will feature the chef’s latest innovations during a five-course food experience with custom drink pairings. From 6 pm to 7 pm, mingle around the cozy fireplace lounge with cocktails and snacks. From 7 pm – 9 pm, experience five exquisite courses while the chef explains each course and presentation.

Wayland Square: Full Moon Workshop and Cocktails Barre & Soul Sunday, January 28 at 5 pm – 7 pm
Get your witch on at Barre & Soul’s Full Moon Workshop. As the full moon rises, instructor Julie Ann will lead participants through a night of pranayama, intention setting, meditation, and a dynamic vinyasa flow set to hip-hop spun by a live DJ. This 90-minute workshop will include a fun, lunar-inspired flow, restorative poses, an extended savasana, and meditation. After class, Barre & Soul will be pouring complimentary Sons of Liberty cocktails in the lobby. Sip and shop the goodies brought by Palomino. Palomino will be selling sage bundles, Palo Santo, crystals, jewelry, and more witchy goodness. They are even offering a 15% or more discount, especially for this event.

Crockpot cooking is go-to during the cold winter months. This introductory class by Easy Entertaining walks participants through 4-5 slow cooker recipes. Learn how to put your slow cooker to work so you can have more time to unwind and relax after work.
