Art and Design Film Festival November 2 – November 12

A happy birthday is in order… the Providence and Design Film Festival turns three this year! The film festival is curated to focus on diverse disciplines within art and design. For ten days, 23 films will be featured at five different RI venues. For the full list of featured films, click here. This year’s venues are The Cable Car Cinema in Providence, Newport Art Museum and Jane Pickens Theater in Newport, and Jamestown Arts Center in Jamestown. Each venue will showcase different films at varying times, so be sure to check out the full schedule here.

The lineup of films looks awesome, but we are most looking forward to watching Loving Vincent at The Cable Car Cinema and Bombshell:The Hedy Lamar Story at the Jane Pickens Theatre. The Cable Car is an awesome spot in Providence. Don’t know what we love most about it – the comfy sofas, the yummy snacks, the coffee, or the films. Jane Pickens may not have comfy sofa seats but this Art House Theatre certainly brings the glam in the heart of Washington Square. Indulge in some

Regular admission is $10 per screening. Discount student and senior tickets are available at The Cable Car Cinema screenings for $9. Opening night reception and film admission is $30. Purchase your tickets here.

School of Fish Hosted by Eating with the Ecosystem November 20, 6 pm – 8 pm

School of Fish is an ongoing dinner series at Hope & Main in Warren. This workshop and dinner combo is hosted by Eating with the Ecosystem. Each event is hosted by a different local chef. Participants are in for a real treat – Bristol Oyster Bar has some of the yummiest seafood dishes around!

Each class features one local species prepared in several ways.

School of Fish is all about eating locally and mindfully. Who can’t get behind that?
