November is here and that means the season for Rhode Island Red Food Tours is coming to an end. Our final day is November 18th, so hurry and get your tickets before it’s too late! Newport Restaurant Week November 3 – November 12
Restaurant Week in Newport is practically its own holiday. What’s better than chowing down at your favorite restaurants for half the price?
More than 50 restaurants are participating in Newport Restaurant Week, so there’s no shortage of choices. Participating restaurants offer three-course prix fixe lunches for $16 and three-course prix fixe dinners for $35.
Enjoy an old favorite for a bargain or venture out for something new. Newport Restaurant Week is a win-win for all.

Art and Design Film Festival November 2 – November 12
A happy birthday is in order… the Providence and Design Film Festival turns three this year! The film festival is curated to focus on diverse disciplines within art and design. For ten days, 23 films will be featured at five different RI venues. For the full list of featured films, click here. This year’s venues are The Cable Car Cinema in Providence, Newport Art Museum and Jane Pickens Theater in Newport, and Jamestown Arts Center in Jamestown. Each venue will showcase different films at varying times, so be sure to check out the full schedule here.
The lineup of films looks awesome, but we are most looking forward to watching Loving Vincent at The Cable Car Cinema and Bombshell:The Hedy Lamar Story at the Jane Pickens Theatre. The Cable Car is an awesome spot in Providence. Don’t know what we love most about it – the comfy sofas, the yummy snacks, the coffee, or the films. School of Fish Hosted by Eating with the Ecosystem November 20, 6 pm – 8 pm
School of Fish is an ongoing dinner series at Hope & Main in Warren. This workshop and dinner combo is hosted by Eating with the Ecosystem. Each event is hosted by a different local chef. This month’s event is being hosted by Chef Dave Snow and Peter Sebring of Bristol Oyster Bar. Participants are in for a real treat – Bristol Oyster Bar has some of the yummiest seafood dishes around!
Expect to learn about (and taste!) seafood caught right from Rhode Island’s shores. Learn how to turn whole local seafood into a tasty dinner. The goal is to learn how to prepare and cook plentiful local seafood. Scup, skate, squid, Jonah crab, whiting, dogfish, sea robin, and fluke are all local, plentiful species. Each class features one local species prepared in several ways.
School of Fish is all about eating locally and mindfully. Who can’t get behind that?

Rhode Island Comic Con November 10 – 12
Meet your favorite TV or movie character, dress in cosplay, pick up some awesome swag, and get an exclusive sneak peek of some of the most anticipated movies. RI Comic Con is the biggest event in the smallest state for a reason. Locals and visitors count down the days to RI Comic Con. This year’s guests are pretty impressive. Let’s throw some names out there – Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), Christopher Llyod (Back to the Future), Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings), and Gene Simmons (KISS) to just name a few! RICC is 3 pm – 9 pm on Friday, 10 am – 7 pm on Saturday, and 10 am – 5 pm on Sunday.

Lady Project Winter Marketplace & Holiday Guide Celebration November 29, 5 pm – 9 pm
Get ahead of your holiday shopping and support local, women-owned businesses! The Lady Project is a national organization that connects, inspires, and showcases women doing awesome things. For more info on The Lady Project, click here. The Providence chapter is organizing this event to support women-owned businesses.
The marketplace and celebration is at The Arcade in Providence, which means you can grab a coffee or cocktail at New Harvest Coffee & Spirits before getting your shopping done. There will be 15+ vendors to peruse, food samples from lady-owned caterers, a photo booth, and mini massages.

The Farmers & Artisans Market is 11 am – 3 pm every Sunday starting on November 5 until December 17. Vendors rotate, but include artisanal goods, art, fresh local produce, prepared food, vintage, and more!
Free Family Fun Day Audubon Environmental Education Center November 11, 9 am – 5 pm
Most Rhode Islanders have fond childhood memories of adventures at the Environmental Education Center. November is a great time to pay them a visit! Enjoy free admission for the whole family at the Environmental Education Center. Family Fun Day is the first Saturday of every month. Have fun making crafts, swapping nature stories, meeting new animal friends, go on a hike, and more!
This month’s Family Fun Day is focused on mushrooms and nature’s decomposers. There’s plenty to learn and even more fun to be had!

Vineyard Vinyasa Newport Vineyards November 15, 5:45 pm – 8 pm
There may be no greater combo that yoga and wine. Especially when it’s paired with a beautiful setting like Newport Vineyards. Vineyard Vinyasa is presented by Thames Street Yoga. The class is BYOM (Bring Your Own Mat), but it’s definitely not BYOW (Bring Your Own Wine.)
Yoga class is 5:45 pm – 7 pm followed by a wine tasting, 7 pm – 8 pm. The wonderful Brix Restaurant is on-site, so cap your night off with dinner at the Vineyard.
Tickets for Vineyard Vinyasa are $26 per person and include yoga and wine tasting samples. Wine by the glass is available for purchase.

Hear the history of holiday’s past on this walking tour of Newport. Learn how Newporters of the past celebrated our favorite holidays. This is a family-friendly tour, so bring the kiddos along to learn something new!
Tours are limited, so reservations are encouraged and can be made here.
Tickets are $15 per person or $10 for members and active military members with ID. Purchase a $25 ticket for the tour and a keepsake lantern to use during the tour.

Friendsgiving Mount Hope FarmNovember 10, 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Celebrate Friendsgiving with Benjamin Franklin and his buddies. Friendsgiving at Mount Hope Farm is everything that we love: food, friends, history, and fun! Join Ben Franklin and his friends as they celebrate Friendsgiving in 1778 at a bistro in Paris. There will be special guest appearances throughout the dinner, so be sure to stay on your toes!
The fine French Food menu includes local forage boards, Philly cheesesteak, lobster mac & cheese, seasonal mini pies, quiche, smoked turkey from Mt. Hope Farm, Bourguignon stew & frites, and so much more! We can practically feel our waistline expanding!

Yoga & Herbal Cocktail Workshop – Fall Flavors Radia HerbsNovember 4, 4 pm – 6 pm
If you prefer something a little harder than wine, the Yoga & Herbal Cocktail Workshop is for you!
The yoga class is for all levels of experience. It is a Forrest & Vinyasa class, so you will have fluidity on the mat while also taking the time to stay in poses for a stronger mind-body experience.
There is also a plant walk and cocktail tasting. During the plant walk, you will learn about native herbs and how they can be applied medically to support physical and mental health. During the cocktail tasting, you will experience different simple syrups, shrubs, bitters, and infused liquors. You’ll learn the history of the cocktail and how to incorporate herbs into your very own cocktail ingredients.
Tickets are $35 per person and include yoga class, plant walk, tasting two cocktails, bar snacks, and a little takeaway gift from the farm.

WaterFire Salute to Veterans and Season Send-Off November 4, sunset is 5:36 pm
WaterFire’s Salute to Veterans is the last full lighting of the season. If you haven’t had to chance to experience the magic of WaterFire, this is your last shot for the 2017 season. Get there a little before sunset to watch the lighting, grab a snack, and enjoy the atmosphere.
Find WaterFire in Downtown Providence, along Memorial Boulevard and the Providence and Woonasquatucket Rivers.
