Dive into the Big Fall Book Sale at the Friends of Rochambeau Community Library. Whether you’re a book lover or have one in your life, this is a great way to add to any book collection. Bonus: you will be supporting your local library!

Bring the whole family and have the kiddos pick out something new to read. The Library has thousands of gently used donated books in over 50 categories. There truly is something for everyone in the family! Most books are priced at $1 and children’s books are 50 cents. Better yet, Friday and Saturday are discount days – fill your bags for $5/bag. It really can’t get much better than that.

Fall Restaurant Week

It’s baaaackkk! We don’t know about you, but we love exploring and eating during Newport Restaurant Week. More than 50 restaurants in Newport and Bristol Counties participating in the seasonal restaurant weeks. Participating restaurants offer two-course prix fixe lunches for $20, three-course prix fixe dinners for $35 and a three-course premier prix fixe dinner for $50. Whether you are taste-testing a new favorite or treating yourself to an old favorite, Newport Restaurant Week is a great week to be a foodie in RI.

Stoneacre Brasserie and the Vanderbilt Grill, two of our Newport Neighborhood food tour partners, are participating in restaurant week. We definitely recommend that you add them to your Restaurant Week round-up.

Seal Days

Always wanted to see a seal in its natural habitat? Seal Days is a perfect time. As the days shorten and temperatures drop, harbor seals return to the lagoon for winter. Hop on the Inn’s skiff and scout the waters for seals lounging on the rocks. After your adventure, head inside to learn more about local seals and make seal-themed holiday ornaments to bring home.

The Arcade Providence
Every Sunday in November and December from 11 am – 3 pm

The Arcade Farmers & Artisan Market is back! The market starts back on Sunday, November 4 and continues every Sunday until December 23. Shop and support small, local businesses this holiday season (and beyond.) If you ask us, local gifts are the best gifts. Vendors rotate weekly, so you’ll always have a new shopping experience. Vendors specialize in art, local food, vintage, apothecary goods, and more. You can find the starting list of vendors here.

The market is free and since it’s on Sundays, parking in Providence is free and plentiful. Stop by the Arcade Farmers & Artisan Market to stock up on local food, window shop for the holidays or find your new favorite treasure.

Drunk Cat Stories II

For cat lovers and storytellers. The night’s performers will get drunk and tell you their best cat stories. Whether it’s about a cat they’ve loved, hated, or just briefly met, these stories will make you laugh and cry.

Edible Wild Mushroom Presentation and Potluck with the Mushroom Hunting Foundation

Did you know that Rhode Island is home to many species of wild, edible mushrooms? Fall is one of the best times of year to go mushroom hunting in RI. Representatives from the Mushroom Hunting Foundation will be discussing how to safely enjoy RI’s wild mushrooms and where to find them. Their presentation will feature local mushroom photography, cover the basics of mushroom science and safety, and detail the diverse and delicious fungi found in our area. Bring a dish to share at the 6 pm potluck, followed by the presentation at 7 pm.

Timed just perfectly for holiday shopping, the Made on Honor Market will be one of our first holiday-shopping stops. We plan to give as many local gifts as possible this holiday season and we challenge you to do the same. This market is free and open to the public, so bring your spending money and load up on local goodies.

Winter Marketplace
Blithewold Mansion
Sunday, November 18 at 1 pm – 2:30 pm and 2:30 pm – 4 pm

If you’ve been meaning to take a tour of Blithewold Mansion, this would be a great time. Enjoy the holiday decorations and pick up some holiday gifts at their Winter Marketplace pop-up. Local traders, purveyors of fine goods, artisans and artists will be setting up shop in the Visitors’ Center for the day.

Holiday Lantern Tour

Learn how the first Newporters celebrated the holidays on this historical Holiday Lantern Tour. This is an all-weather tour, so be prepared for the New England winter weather. The Holiday Lantern Tour is a great way to get into the spirit of the holidays.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased day-of or by calling 401-841-8770. Space is limited, so pre-purchasing tickets is recommended.

Tours depart from The Museum of Newport History and Shop, which is located at 127 Thames Street in Newport, Rhode Island.

 

30th Annual Warren Holiday Festival

Finish up your Thanksgiving leftovers and dive right into Christmas at the 30th Annual Warren Holiday Festival. The two-day celebration is jam-packed with annual favorites like visits from Santa, choral performances, ornament workshops, and more. This year’s lineup will be released soon, so check back here for more information.

The Holiday Festival takes place throughout downtown Warren, Rhode Island. A map of events will be available closer to the event date.

Ladies’ Drawing Night
Twenty Stories
Tuesday, November 27 from 6 pm – 8 pm

Hang out with local artists and get your creativity flowing at Ladies’ Drawing Night. Local artists Maret Bondorew will lead the night’s activities. Fun fact, Maret is the lead illustrator for Frog and Toad Press in Providence!

Ladies’ Drawing Night is a monthly gathering of local female-identifying artists gathering around a table with their sketchbooks. Drawing together and interacting builds a sense of community by creating art and sharing a drink together. All skills levels are welcome, even those who are not artistically inclined. There will be wine and cookies for everyone to enjoy.

The Cup Show III: An Exploration of Individuality

The Little Clay Studio is presenting The Cup Show, an exhibition showcasing discovery and self-expression. This year’s exhibition host is Hope & Main in Warren, Rhode Island. Artwork will be available for purchase and there will also be a holiday sale during the exhibit.

Newport Holiday Stroll

Enjoy a stroll through Newport where you will find unique New England events like ice skating downtown, caroling, live performances, and (of course) holiday shopping in downtown Newport. Head to Bowen’s Wharf for the 48th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting with Santa Claus and grab lunch at one of Newport’s amazing restaurants.
